Ukraine to supply two more An-74 aircraft to Libya in 2009
Ukraine is to supply two ambulance versions of the Antonov An-74 aircraft to Libya within a year, CEO of the Antonov state aircraft-building corporation Dmytro Kiva told journalists in Tripoli on Tuesday.
The first An-74-TK-300 aircraft (VIP version) ordered by this country arrived to Libya on May 22, he said.
"This is the first aircraft supplied by the Kharkiv state aviation manufacturing company in two years," Kiva said.
Libya has fully paid for this airplane, he said. An-74 is worth around $15 million, Kiva said.
Currently, the company is negotiating the supply of other aircraft to Libya, he said. Libya is interested in the additional supply of An-74s because currently it is using five aircraft of the previous An-72 model, Kiva said. The parties discuss whether these planes can be repaired and renovated, the Antonov company chief said.
Also, talks are being held on the supply of An-148 medium-haul aircraft to Libya and renovation of An-124 transport aircraft used in this country, Kiva said.
As for the An-140 aircraft, the supply of which was negotiated earlier, the production of this aircraft has been halted due to problems at the Kharkiv aviation manufacturing company, he said.
