Los motivos de Israel para atacar, según un ministro sin identificar del gobierno de Netanyahu citado por el analista político Amit Sergal:
“If you had a time machine,” I ask the senior Israeli minister, “and you knew a month ago that this is what would happen, would you still vote in favor of war?”
“First of all, yes,” he replies. “You have to understand, this was a cold and calculated gamble. The Iranians were planning to move their entire nuclear and missile industry underground, in a way that would have made it nearly impenetrable. In any case, we would have attacked this year—but with the Americans by our side, there was no dilemma.”
“The main achievements of the war are the severe damage to ballistic missiles and their production. This time, after hitting the entire production chain, it will be much harder for them to recover.”
“It’s also worth remembering,” the official added, “that for years, the nightmare scenario in Israel was a multi-front war with hundreds of casualties on the home front. Last year, in ‘Rising Lion,’ in 12 days of war against Iran alone, there were 30 fatalities. Now, in a war with three times as many fronts and three times as many enemies, there are 20. What is that if not proof that ‘Rising Lion’ was not in vain—and neither was ‘Roaring Lion’?”

También habla de los daños a la infraestructura industrial iraní y el efecto que pueden provocar en la posguerra, especulando acerca de un posible cambio de régimen como consecuencia de la crisis económica que se les viene encima a los iraníes, pero no inmediato sino en un plazo de años.
Mi evaluación: mucho wishful thinking y cortoplacismo por parte israelí, y ningún reparo en las consecuencias globales. Hasta puedo entender que a ellos les dé igual, porque están totalmente "echados al monte" desde el 7-O, pero lo de Trump ya entra en el terreno de la estupidez geoestratégica.
O les sale todo perfecto y en los años venideros el régimen acaba cayendo sin demasiado estrépito, o la derrota estratégica va a ser difícil de tapar, si esto acaba con el régimen todavía en el poder -algo casi seguro, al menos a corto plazo- y con Irán controlando el estrecho, que harían falta meses para reabrirlo por la fuerza, si finalmente se hace, con consecuencias terroríficas para la economía mundial. No entro en lo que está diciendo Trump sobre el tema porque analizar su verborrea diaría es irrelevante, y también malo para la salud mental del analista. Solo hay que observar sus actos: de momento han desplegado fuerzas para llevar a cabo pequeños raids, nada más.
