Que interesante el careo entre los dos, ahora bien aparte de los harrier indios y los F5BR, los chicos de Israel no han hecho lo propio, digo con plataformas como los Kfires, antes de la incorporación de los F16I y los F15I.

El Kfir en Israel nunca pasó de tener EL/M 2001. O sea, un set de telemetría para ataque al suelo. Tiene modos aire-aire rudimentarios para ayudar a adivinar la distancia a un objetivo volante en combate cercano y trackearlo de modo automático. O sea, ayuda de telemetría para el tiro artillero y para facilitarle al piloto a mantener la naríz en la dirección general del avión enemigo, pero nada más. Y el Derby ni siquiera es el principal misil BVRAAM de la HHA, sino el AMRAAM. El chiste con el Derby era darle a aviones de prestaciones más discretas (como los primeros F-16 A/B, pasticho de Blocks 1 al 10 de los que Israel opera un centenar largo) un misil de alcance medio que no pesara tanto y acabara limitando qué otras armas puedes colgar.
Quién sabe lo que han probado o no. Parecen tenerle una fé enorme. Aunque si yo estuviera tratando de vender algo obviamente también pondría la mejor cara posible.
Si, eso mismo he pensado, hay mucha fe en esos vectores, aparte siempre he escuchado como todo se solucionaría con un AWACS, como por arte de magia, este recurso es una ayuda regia pero creo no es concluyente sin las plataformas adecuadas, por ejemplo en la siguiente transcripcion del primer derribo confirmado de un F16 de la USAF con un BVR AMRAAM se puede observar la asistencia del AWACS en todo momento pero el lock lo realiza y lo ejecuta el piloto en el F16 :

Una duda, al soltar un misisl AA guiado por radar el call sign no es FOX THREE ? ya que en esta transcripcion no se menciona.
