A Lockheed Liberator GRV of No.200 Squadron RAF Coastal Command piloted by New Zealander Flying Officer Lloyd Allan Trigg and his crew of eight, based at Yundum on the west coast of Africa is shown sinking the German U-boat U-468 on 11th August 1943. The Liberator however was severely damaged and crashed close to the U-boat killing all the crew, which allowed the few survivors of the U-boat to use its rubber dinghy. They were picked up by a Royal Navy destroyer and on their recommendation; Lloyd Trigg was awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross, “For Valour”.
Un Lockheed Libertador GRV, del Escuadrón Nº.200 de la RAF, del Mando Costero, pilotado por el Oficial de Vuelo neozelandés Lloyd Allan Trigg y su tripulación de ocho, con sede en Yundum, en la costa occidental de África, muestra el hundimiento del submarino alemán U-468 el 11 de agosto 1943. el Libertador embargo fue severamente dañado y se estrelló cerca del submarino muriendo toda la tripulación, lo que permitió a los pocos sobrevivientes de la U-boot a usar su bote de goma.Siendo recogidos por un destructor de la Marina Real y por su recomendación; Lloyd Trigg fue galardonado con una Victoria Cross póstuma, "Por Valor".
