Cosas curiosas que suceden, el año justo antes de comenzar la guerra, Siria tuvo una cifra récord de turistas que proporcionaron una importante fuente de ingresos al país. Con la victoria militar del régimen sirio y la estabilización de numerosas zonas del país, el turismo lenta pero progresivamente ha ido regresando a Siria, especialmente el turismo árabe.
